
TRUSTEE RECRUITMENT
Over the past decade, Access Adventures has delivered life-changing adaptive adventure sports to thousands of individuals and their families. As the charity enters an exciting new phase, we are seeking additional trustees to strengthen our Board. This is a voluntary role and a meaningful opportunity to help shape the future of an ambitious and growing charity.

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Access Adventures achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that Access Adventures has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the management team to enable Access Adventures to achieve our mission.
About Us
At Access Adventures, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor adventure sport. Yet for many people with disabilities, equal access simply doesn’t exist. Specialist equipment, accessible facilities and skilled instruction are essential - and the additional costs involved can be significant and often preventative.
That’s where we come in.
Access Adventures offers people with disabilities the opportunity to challenge themselves in an accessible & supportive environment, with the reassurance that their additional needs can be safely accommodated. Participants develop new skills, build confidence and increase self-belief - becoming part of a community that encourages progression and celebrates achievement.

The Role of a Trustee

Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Access Adventures. Working collaboratively with other trustees and the senior management team, trustees ensure the charity:

Operates in line with its charitable objectives

Complies with charity law and best practice

Remains financially sustainable

Delivers measurable impact

Stays true to its vision, mission and values
We would particularly like to hear from applicants with a background in one or more of the following areas:

Charity Finance
-
Corporate Partnerships

Marketing and Communications
Key Skills

Ability to think strategically

Willingness to contribute actively to Board discussions

Ability to challenge constructively and support collaboratively

Integrity and strong communication skills

An understanding of governance responsibilities (training can be provided)

Commitment

Approximately 4 Board meetings per year (mostly virtual)

Occasional additional sub-committee or project involvement

Preparation time for meetings

Term: 3 years (renewable)
Trustees may also be invited to attend events or activities where possible.
Restrictions
You must be:

Over 18

Subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check

Not excluded by Companies House or Charity Commission

Not bound by conflict of interest
