Val Thorens Ski camp

Hi, my name is Terry and I was injured at work in 2014. As a result of my accident I am now paralysed from the waist down. I have spent the past 3 years trying to rebuild my life which is now very different.

I was looking for ways to get back into being active when my wife came across Access Adventures and a water skiing camp they were advertising. The next thing I knew I was booked to go. My very first meeting with Jane was when I rolled out of my car into the car park and had to get my wife to call Jane to tell her where to find me!

I have now been on 2 water ski camps and loved every minute of both of them.

Whilst on the water ski camps I spoke to Jane about my wish to get back on the mountains as before my accident I was a black run snow boarder. I was invited to attend their recent pilot ski camp in Val Thorens, France. Having spent the past 12 months having sit ski lessons with DSUK in Hemel Hempstead I was ready to hit the slopes.

"It made me realise that my life is really worth living"

I can honestly say I had the best week ever. I could not fault the accommodation, food & resort staff and to top it off we had great powder and sunshine the whole week.

The work Access Adventures do is great, allowing you to re-engage with life and other people in a similar situation to you. Being on their camps enabled me to feel it's ok to leave the safety of my own home and gave me the opportunity to meet some great people along the way.

Back on the mountains is the one place where I can feel free and to be back there after a 3 year absence was the best feeling in the world, it made me realise that my life is really worth living.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Jane, Tim and Clare from Access Adventures. Keep doing what you do guys so more people's lives can be worth living.

Terry
